My passion is creating books from scratch and filling the blank pages with my whole world.
When I was little I loved going to book stores and was always amazed by the looks, feel & smells of different books, journals, sketchbooks & etc.
I think there’s something mesmerising about paper.
My nickname is Mimi and my dog is named Tomika, we’re very lucky we found her and rescued her from the streets when she was little.
‘Mimika’ is a combination of our names.
When I was thinking of how to name my brand I had a really hard time.
Naturally, I’m known for doing a lot of creative things with my hands, so I didn’t want my name limit my creations, I love experimenting with different ways of crafting and it’s amazing I can gather different techniques and creativity in the books I make.
This way whatever I do can be finished in a sentence:
Mimika makes a book”, “an illustration”, “embroidery flowers”, and so on…
This is how 'Mimika Makes' came to life!
I am deeply inspired and amazed by the beauty of nature.
Each book I create is crafted with care, using sustainable methods and natural, recyclable materials. I believe my work should not harm the Earth, and my intention is to spread kindness to the world.
In an age of mass production, I aim to offer something unique and timeless.
With every stitch, fold, and motion, I weave my love and pledge my commitment to the creative energy, so that whenever you open my book, you can feel the essence of preserving these ancient crafts.
I’m 23 years old and I was born and raised in Brasil, Manaus. My family is from Bulgaria, Europe and this is where I live now.
I’m mostly self-taught, I started drawing & painting as a child and I’ve always had a desire to share and film my art process.
When I graduated high school I wanted to become an Environment Concept Artist, so I spent about two years studying and learning 3D workflows in Blender & Photoshop. After that I worked for two years in a studio in the Movie Industry and we made a lot of concepts for films, tv shows & commercials, right now I’m freelancing in this area.
I also play the drums and I’m in a small percussion band named ‘Foli Ba’ where we play and preserve ancient rhythm traditions, mainly from West Africa.
Journaling helps me with anxiety & enhances my self-awareness. I’ve always thought better on paper, and when I started expressing my feelings and thoughts by writing them down I felt this feeling of freedom and clarity. It is also a way of documenting your life.
